PharmaNet, Abacus in EU Pact

Firms to collaborate on EU patient registries and real-world studies

PharmaNet Development Group has entered a collaboration with Abacus International to support the development of research-based evidence throughout the drug/device lifecycle to document a product’s clinical and economic value. The companies will focus on patient registries and health economic programs in Europe.

PharmaNet brings to the collaboration its experience in the design and implementation of clinical trials and prospective “real-world” research studies, while Abacus provides focused expertise in health economics, health technology assessment and market access solutions.

“The collaboration will allow PharmaNet and Abacus to support clients in documenting the clinical and economic value of products throughout the entire development process,” commented Jeff Trotter, executive vice president, Phase IV Development, PharmaNet.

Simon Howard, managing director of Abacus, added, “Collaborating with PharmaNet will enable us to blend our expertise and understanding of the European Health Technology Assessment (HTA) landscape with PharmaNet’s capabilities in the design and implementation of ‘real-world’ research programs that are increasingly demanded by key stakeholders.”

In the design and deployment of many patient registries, the organizations will draw on Abacus’s e-registry management system web-based software, thereby equipping clients with a full array of services and experience in project management, site management and monitoring, data management and analysis and communications.
